Ralph Kimmell is my grandfather. While scanning photos I was curious to know what this structure is/was, so I did a google search and found your website that explained about this hotel. My grandparents, Ida George and Ralph Kimmell had just gotten married in April of 1955. They may have been on their honeymoon as with this photo there are others and my mother, Marsha was not in any of these photo's, she was 9 that year.

Hi Courtney,

Thank you so much for submitting the photo from 1955. The Ship Hotel was such a fantastic landmark that is missed by so many. I was around the same age as your mother when I first visited the Ship Hotel. I'll never forget what it was like to stand on the deck and look out over as far as the eye could see. I also remember seeing the wild life roaming in the forest below.

I'm always amazed at how small the world seems now that we have the internet. Here you are out in CO with pictures to charish of your family in PA and you were able to share this wonderful photo with us.
