Juneteenth - June 20, 2009

by Harriett Gaston
(Altoona, PA)

Annual Juneteenth UGRR (Underground Railroad) Celebration has much to offer: A tour of great significance to tell the untold stories of places of significance where Africans and African Americans lived, worked, played and died during the Civil War Era. Because Bedford County is only 30 minutes from the Mason Dixion Line, it was a greatly traveled; yet scary paths.

The celebration has historians, gospel music, jazz, artists, rib cook-off, food vendors, crafts, children's activities and much more.

The FREE EVENT is held at Bedford County Fairgrounds 10-5 and there is lots of parking. For more information call 814 623-7102 or www.undergroundrailroadride.com

What a great way to celebrate American History! This is the first time I've heard about this PA Event and what better place to have such an event than Bedford, PA.

Thank you so much for posting it here on my website, I'm sure many visitors will be excited to attend. I know I will be there!
