Haunted Ma and Pa Railroad?

I am new to Delta, PA. My husband grew up here and says when he was younger and stayed at a friends house in the trails they would hear a train. Well we now live in the trails and occassionally we hear a train whistle late at night. Usually after 11 pm and sometimes again later in the night. It seems that other people must be hearing the same thing. I have researched and the train has not been running since the late 1950's... So what are we hearing??? Any insight would be great.

I've lived in Fallston/Gunpowder State Park area since 1985 and for the first time, I've heard the train whistle this evening while in the park. Strange!

Your hearing the train running down by the Susquehanna river it echoes from the valley.i also live in the trails.

Moved to Fallston, had no idea that the trains used to run about 1/4 mile down the road from me. One spring night I heard a train whistle and I remember laying in bed thinking its nice to still be able to hear the trains at night, but then it dawned on me the nearest tracks are down near Rt 40. What was I hearing. I use to live in Chase and I know what a train sounds like, my house backed up to the tracks.

I know there was no way I heard a train over 7 miles away. I still hear it every now and then when I have the windows open. Is it some guy in a truck with a train horn? possibly I know a few people that have them. But I doubt it.

Hi, I just moved into a house on ma and pa rd(I assume a railroad use to move through here) in bel air, md last year. There have been 3 seperate occasions I've heard a train whistle. I have no explanation and am trying to see if anyone else around here has heard it.

I live near Highland and we can hear the train that runs along the Susquehanna near the dam on quiet nights.

I live just north of Delta on the river and there is a train that runs right along the other side of the river, so you may be hearing that tain.

We are from the Towson/Baltimore area and live in Cromwell Valley. We have heard the train whistle because we live very close to an old unused railroad portion of the Ma and Pa. We are also looking for an explanation for these strange noises. If you find anything out please let us know.

I hope you get a response about the train whistle you're hearing. I never realized how strange PA is until I started this website. All and all, it's still one beautiful state.
