(Latrobe)
July 7 - 14, 2012 - 25th Annual Derry Twp Ag Fair is an old-fashioned community fair nestled on Route 982N approximately 6 miles from Latrobe near intersection of Route 982 and Pizza Barn Road, New Derry PA.
It started in 1987 as a way for FFA and 4-H students to show off their school projects and was originally held at the High School, in 1990 it had outgrown the High School field and through the generous offerings of Joseph (Shorty) and Mary Durika the fair was moved to it's current location on the Durika Farm where we still are a youth-oriented fair.
Having a permanent home ec building to show the fruits and veggies, flowers, herbs, can goods, bake goods, hays and grains - we also host a Baked Good Auction on Tuesday evening of the Fair for all to enjoy the great tasting entries. There is also a horse barn which is used for exhibits and feeder sale. An entertainment stage and our pond for the bass tournament.
There is a variety of entertainment and events during the week of the Fair including the Horse Show, Greased Pig Contest, Market Sale, Garden and Large Tractor Pulls, Beautiful Baby Contest, Antique Tractor Rodeo and Laurel Highland Horse Pulls and a free kids activity tent.
