Camping at Lake Raystown

by Kimberly Beckmann
(Red Lion PA)

I have camped at Lake Raystown on a few occasions with my husband and kids and have taken the dogs with us. I have seen writings about this misterious Ray but have never seen him.

This place is the most beautiful campsite I have ever experienced and I was making it a point to watch for Ray once I know there were sighting. My dogs would swim there as well. If I honestly believed there was a creature of that magnitude I don't think I would have let my dogs in the water or my children swim in there beach area.

My golden doodle did act very strange once when playing fetch this one time. She started franticly swimming in circles with the stick in her mouth. She usually brings it right back to me, but this one time she acted as if something were grabbing her tail. She is a pretty big dog, full size poodle type. I only thought that her tail may have looked like bait to a large fish.. and maybe that is what got her so upset. So that was that last time we went for a swim there. If I didn't have her on a tie out and dragged her in she may have drowned being that upset at whatever it was trying to get at her tail.

I will be going to Lake Raystown in the future it is one of my favorite places to visit :
