Blair County African American Heritage Festival

by Harriett Gaston
(Altoona, PA, USA)

Mark your calendars for the 17th annual Blair County African American Heritage Festival at Penn State's Altoona Campus on Saturday, July 24.

The daylong festival of music, crafts and culture celebrates African American culture in Blair County, and features music by gospel artists and groups Kevin Jarido and Nu Virtue, New Skool Spirit, jazz group Urban Fusion and Ibeji Drum Ensemble, playing traditional African music. Traditional foods also will be available throughout the day.

The festival is part of the African American Project of Blair County and is funded in part by Penn State Altoona, Sheetz, McLanahan Corporation, Geomatics Solution LLC, NAACP of Blair County, Port Foundation, Yahweh Productions, and Lighthouse Tax Services.
Coordinators are Will Lightner and Henry Hansard of Altoona. For more information, check out our web site at www.altoona.psu.edu/aahp or Facebook or call 814-207-8771 or 814-502-6065.

17th Annual African American Heritage Festival
by: Patricia

Thank you Harriett for reminding us about the 17th Annual Blair County African American Heritage Festival on July 24, 2010.

Henry Hansard made sure to send me your ad and I couldn't be more impressed with all the great talent you're presenting this year. Sadly I won't be able to attend since I'm having knee surgery on July 20th. But I want to wish you much success for 2010.

Patricia
